These may include muscle aches, stomach problems, and, when changing time zones – jet lag. Is there a way to prevent these conditions? And what CBD oils have to do with it? Circadian rhythm

Surely everyone who has had a sleepless night knows how destructively it affects the body. Irritability, nervousness, a lack of focus, and even problems with motor coordination. This is how a disruption of the circadian rhythm affects our bodies. Maintaining and adhering to it is crucial for the body, as many of the human body's biological processes occur in a 24-hour cycle. A properly regulated body has its rhythm, and the body knows when it should receive energy, i.e., food, when to wake up, when to rest, and when to prepare for sleep. While we sleep, internal organs are constantly working, and the body cleanses itself and gathers energy for the next day and upcoming challenges.
Disrupted sleep, resulting from factors such as long journeys or changes in time zones, often brings many side effects. This includes an increase in cortisol levels, the stress hormone. Too high cortisol levels can cause stress and impair cognitive functions, leading to problems with concentration and memory.
Elevated cortisol levels are just one of the symptoms of long journeys. So, what is jet lag and what characterizes it?

What is jet lag?

Currently, with air travel being easily accessible, many of us choose this mode of transportation. Sometimes these are flights between two time zones. Unfortunately, such journeys often lead to the occurrence of jet lag, a syndrome also known as time zone fatigue. Jet lag is a disruption of the body's circadian rhythm that occurs after flying across time zones. It results from an imbalance between the body's internal biological clock, which regulates many bodily functions, and the actual time at the destination.
Symptoms of jet lag can vary depending on individual factors such as age, overall health, and lifestyle. The most common symptoms include:
  • Sleep disturbances: difficulty falling asleep, early waking, or daytime sleepiness,
  • Balance and coordination issues: problems with walking, dizziness, and difficulty maintaining balance,
  • Fatigue and weakness: feeling tired and lacking energy, persisting for most of the day,
  • Concentration difficulties: trouble focusing, short-term memory problems, and overall reduced productivity,
  • Digestive problems: indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, and appetite issues,
  • Mood changes: irritability, restlessness, or anxiety.
These symptoms can last from a few days to several weeks, depending on the intensity of the time zone shift and how each person's body reacts to it.

CBD oils in the fight against jet lag
